How to Build a Healthy Home
Healthy not perfect home 2/14/10 Valentines

PS 127:1a Unless the LORD builds the house/home, its builders labor in vain. On own (flesh/best) = straw house!

1) Home is where we learn family values!
A) It’s where we learn right from wrong!

EPH 6:1-4 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 "Honor your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with a promise—3 "that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."
V4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

“How to ruin your Home”
Houston Police Dept.
1. Begin at infancy to give the child everything he wants.

2. When he picks up bad words, laugh at him!

3. Never give him any spiritual training let him wait till he’s 21 and decide for himself.

4. Avoid using the word wrong. It may develop a serious guilt complex!

5. Pick up everything he leaves laying around, so he’ll be experienced at throwing responsibility on everyone else.

2) Home is where we learn Trust & Confidence!
A) What teens say they need most from parents:
1. Love, affection and a happy home!

2. Rules and boundaries!

3. Independence and to be trusted!

4. Patience and understanding!

5. Affirmation!

3) Home is where we first meet God!
