The Daily Christian Life!
R U Connected Part 2
Hebrews 12:1-3 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. V2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right
hand of the throne of God. V3 Consider him who
endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
1) The Nature of the Race!
A) Endurance Race (World, Flesh, Devil)
2) How do we endure/persevere for long haul?
V1b let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance/endurance the race marked out for us.
A) I have to: Deal with the issues in my life!
1. Hindrances: Not sin but things that weigh us down; slow us down – excess baggage!
Observations: 1. Insecurity!
2. Over-involvement!
3. Haunts & heartaches!
4. Bad habits!
5. Disagree doctrinally & won’t set aside differences!
2. Sin: “the sin that so easily entangles”
B) Replace issues with a fixation on Christ!
V2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith
-HOW? 1. Saved & Come to church
2. Read the Word!
3. Pray for family & friends: Create list.
4. Fellowship with believers
John 7:37 On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.
Revalation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.
Revalation 7:16 Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat. V17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."
Communion
1 Corinthians 11:23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, v24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." v25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me." v26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. v27 Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. v28 A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup.
