7-11-10 The Desert Acts 7 / EX 2:11-25 Acts 7:22 Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in speech and action. Ex 2:11-14 Acts 7:25 Moses thought that his own people would realize that God was using him to rescue them, but they did not. Ex 2:15 When Pharaoh heard of this, he tried to kill Moses, but Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in Midian, where he sat down by a well. Big Ques: What are we to learn in the penalty box? Lesson 1) The Lesson of S ! V17-22 A) Point: God was teaching Moses to be faithful even in obscurity, when no one noticed! 2) The Lesson of T & P ! 3 verbs… 1. God H : V24a God heard their groaning and 2. God R : V24b he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. 3. God S : V25 So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them. 3) The Lesson of O ! Ex 3:11 But Moses said to God, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?" …Moses was a different man! V12a… And God said, "I will be with you.” Ex 4:1 Moses answered, "What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, 'The Lord did not appear to you'?" Point: The tools to lead were not found during his success but in the desert, penalty box! Moses learned: God delights in making S not Pharaohs!
