Personal Freedom Part 2 7/4/10 WHY DO I DO WHAT I DON’T WANT TO DO? 1) MAIN PROBLEM: My Flesh/sin principle! 2 COR 4:3-4a But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not… There is a way out... 2) GOD’S PROMISE is: Personal Freedom! John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. How do I experience this? Bible gives 4 things to do... 3) GOD’S PRESCRIPTION -Starts by facing the truth about myself... A) Acknowledge the Root of My Problems! 1 John 1:8 “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.” Principle: Sin involves self-deception! -Face the truth about myself... -Face the truth about Jesus Christ... B) Believe Christ can Change Me: Based on Word! Rom. 7:24-25 Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin? The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. Rom. 8:2 For the new spiritual principle of life in Jesus Christ lifts me out of the old vicious cycle of sin. 3rd step... Very threatening: Create environment of trust! C) Confess My Struggle to Another! James 5:16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so God can heal you. When a believing person prays, great things happen. D) I Must Dedicate Myself Completely To Christ! Rom. 6:12-13 Don’t let sin control the way you live. Don’t give in to its lustful desires... Instead give yourselves completely to God since you have been given a new life. “Do you really want to change.”
