Mother’s Day 2010 -Pattern in Scripture: He takes us, Breaks us, Remakes us and uses us! 1) A couple of Irrefutable Principles… A) All are subject to trials! Job 14:1"Man born of woman is of few days and full of trouble. B) God is in control! Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 1 Peter 4:12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. 2) Reasons for Afflictions & Trials… -Not an exhaustive list… -Ultimately to mold us into image of Christ! A) To increase our prayer life! Ps 57:1 Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed. B) To chastise us when we’ve gone astray! Heb 12:11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. C) To test our sincerity & our faith! Job 23:10 But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold. Becky will speak here: Live & in color! D) To train us to minister to others! 2 Cor 1:4 (God) who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
