Are We Getting It Right?
Modeling a Biblical Church!
1-3-2010
Acts 2:47 “The Lord added to their number daily.”
7 principles that apply to our church today...
1. We need to minister in the Holy Spirit’s power!
Acts 1:8 Jesus, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
2. We need to maintain a warm fellowship!
Acts 2:42-44 “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common.”
3. We need small groups!
Acts 2:46-47 “Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”
4. We need to magnify our vision of God!
-Who is God? Do we portray Him as He is?
Acts 4:24b “O Sovereign Lord, Creator of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them.”
-Matthew 16:18 “I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it”.
5. We need to maximize the power of prayer!
6. We must model Christ-like generosity!
Acts 4:32-34a “All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great blessing was upon them all. There were no needy people among them.”
7. Every member must see themselves as ministers on a mission!
“The biggest human temptation is…to settle for too little.” Thomas Merton
“We need men of the cross, with the message of the cross, bearing the marks of the cross.” – Vance Havner
