Celebrating the Family! 1) Where we’ve been! PRINCIPLES TO LIVE BY… 1. 1 man + 1 woman – for a lifetime! 1 Corinthians 7:17 “And don’t be wishing you were someplace else or with someone else. Where you are is God’s place for you. Live and obey and love and believe right there. God, not your marital status, defines your life.” (msg) 2. How do we make it Work? -Mutual submission! Ephesians 5:21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. -Love & Respect! 3. There is a destructive force attached to divorce! 4. How do you blend a family? -In a slow cooker set on low! 5. To be successful in blending your family… -Develop a solid couple bond! -Affirm & reaffirm the children. -Expect and accept different feelings. Recognize the 5 stages of grief… Denial; Anger; Bargaining; Depression; Acceptance (Kuble & Ross) -Follow children’s lead in what to call you. 6. Build relationships God’s way not mans! 2) Where we are today! 3) Where we want to go!
