The Daily Christian Life!
R U Connected Part 1
Hebrews 12:1-3 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. V2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, WHY? who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. V3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
Proverbs 4:25 Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. v26 Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm.v27 Do not swerve to the right or the left, keep your foot from evil.
1) The Nature of the Race!
A) Endurance Race!
1. World
1 John 2:15 Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. v16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. v17 And the world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God abides forever.
2. Flesh
3. Devil
2 Corinthians 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: v4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
“Rest if you must but never quit!”
Christian race is more than an endurance race…
B) Endurance race set on an obstacle course!
-We don’t know what lies ahead, that’s why it requires FAITH!
2) How do we persevere for the long haul?
V2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith,
-True spiritually: Start with simple things: Habits… 1. Saved - Church
2. Read the Word
3. Pray
4. Fellowship
Need: To stay hydrated: Reason many don’t finish!
John 7:37 On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. V38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." V39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.
Revalation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.
Revalation 7:16 Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat. V17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
